Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Candid (the "Service"), an AI-assisted research platform that collects, classifies and synthesises publicly available evidence into insights and strategic opportunities. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility & Account

You must be at least 16 years old and capable of forming a binding contract. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:
  • use the Service to infringe intellectual-property rights or violate privacy or publicity rights;
  • scrape, mirror, resell or sublicense the Service or any underlying data without our written consent;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, prompts, or model weights;
  • use the Service to generate disinformation, harassment, or content that violates applicable law;
  • circumvent rate limits, security controls, or paywalls.

3. Ownership of Research Outputs

"Outputs" means the evidence summaries, themes, insights, opportunities, plans, exports and other content the Service generates for you in connection with your studies.

Your Outputs are yours. Subject to your continued compliance with these Terms and payment of any applicable fees, you own all right, title and interest in the Outputs generated for your studies and may use them for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, internal decision-making, client work and published research, provided that:

  • you do not represent the Outputs as endorsed, certified or verified by Candid;
  • you do not resell, redistribute, or repackage the Outputs as a standalone product, dataset, or API;
  • you do not use the Outputs to train, fine-tune, or evaluate a competing model or research service;
  • any publication of an Output that is substantially the verbatim work of the Service includes a clear attribution (for example: "Generated with Candid — candidresearch.lovable.app").

Candid retains all right, title and interest in the Service itself, the underlying software, prompts, agent architecture, model selection, classification taxonomy, scoring algorithms and aggregated, anonymised usage data. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the Service to you.

4. Source Material & Third-Party Content

The Service collects publicly available snippets from third-party platforms (Reddit, Hacker News, the open web). Each snippet remains the intellectual property of its original author and host. You are responsible for your use of source material, including compliance with each platform's terms and any applicable copyright, fair-use, and quotation rules in your jurisdiction.

5. AI-Generated Content — No Warranty of Accuracy

Outputs are produced by AI models and are probabilistic in nature. They may contain inaccuracies, omissions, outdated information, or fabricated details ("hallucinations"). You agree to use professional judgement before relying on any Output for a material decision, including business, legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical decisions. The Service is a research aid, not a substitute for qualified professional advice.

6. Confidentiality

The briefs, research goals, key questions and uploaded materials you submit are treated as confidential to your account. We do not sell your study content. We may process it for the purpose of operating the Service, including sending necessary prompts and excerpts to our AI model providers under their respective data processing agreements.

7. Subscriptions, Credits & Refunds

Paid features are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law. Credits expire according to the plan you selected at purchase. We may modify pricing on prospective basis with reasonable notice.

8. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access without notice for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, abuse, or risk to the Service. Upon termination, your Outputs remain yours; we may delete account data after a reasonable retention period.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF OUTPUTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CANDID AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (b) USD 100.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Candid from any claim, demand, loss, or damages, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service, your Outputs, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
